⏵ character information
name: Jon Snow
canon: Game of Thrones (but taking a lot from the A Song of Ice and Fire books to fill in the gaps)
age: 24
canon point: Season 7, Episode 5
history: GOT wiki, ASOIAF wiki
abilities:
SWORDSMAN
Though a bastard, Jon was trained first in the yard with his half-siblings and then further by the Watch when he went North, and he is an incredibly capable swordsman, perhaps one of the best of his time. He has the benefit of having experienced real battle multiple times in his life, and that has further enhanced his fighting and strategic ability in that regard.

NORTHERNER + BROTHER OF THE NIGHT'S WATCH
Okay, stay with me. Growing up and surviving the North is, really, an ability because the North is harsh and cruel and if you don't have the skills to survive, you won't. That said, Jon learned how to hunt and track, he's well trained when it comes to horseback and caring for a horse in general, he knows how to start a fire and build a camp, and with his time in the Watch past the Wall, how to make it through the bitterest cold you can ever imagine. As a whole, he's pretty self-sufficient, and can repair (on a basic level) clothes, and maintain swords and armor.

WARGING
Jon doesn't know how to do this consistently (and in fact, he doesn't really know he's done it at all yet), but he is able to essentially put his consciousness into any animal he has a close enough bond with, in this case, Ghost, the direwolf he's raised from a pup (though he could, presumably, do it with any other animal he bonds with). While warging into an animal allows him to see through the eyes of it, nothing else is gained through the bond.

UNDEAD
Not an ability in the traditional sense, but having died and then brought back to life has changed him and his body permanently. Jon is cold, to the touch but also in general, almost as if he presence in any room makes the whole place colder. Most animals can sense a faint smell of death and rot on him, and most will flee from his presence or with otherwise be disturbed by it. Death has also made him experience emotions slightly differently, stripping away some of the power from emotions like fear or anger.

TARGARYEN (though he doesn't know it)
Like most of that particular bloodline, Jon possesses a natural resistance to most diseases and the ability to bond with a dragon.

personality: An outsider from birth, Jon grew up distanced from most of the people and the world around him, leaving him feeling both isolated and as a result of that, Jon struggles to foster lasting relationships with most people. Jon will never admit it, but he can be shy, retreating from social situations he's not well-versed in, namely war councils or the like. Jon can and will overcome his introverted nature when it's asked of him and he can be very compelling and charismatic, appealing to people not as a leader, but a peer. Despite being chosen as the King of the North, he isn't interested in the title or the power it affords him, but he carries the burden of it because it inspires people and he knows that inspiration and hope (and a little faith) are needed to keep people going sometimes.

Internalizing the disdain for his status as a bastard, Jon grew up motivated to prove himself, a desire that persists even into adulthood. When he sets his mind to something, he puts all his effort into it, right to the point of wearing himself out, because he hates the idea of being nothing, looked over, forgotten. He can be a little singleminded at times, focused on his path and his goals and missing the things happening around him, but he's gotten better at not being absorbed in his own head. That said, he can be defensive and reactive, and easily frustrated by his limitations.

Needing to navigate the complicated his complicated relationships, Jon became incredibly perceptive, able to sit on the fringes of a room or a crowd and pick out people and their traits to give him a general idea of how to approach and deal with them.

Jon is judgemental at times and he doesn't forget a slight against himself or those he cares for. Though he isn't the type to pour over thoughts of revenge, he can and will be motivated to defend those he wants to protect and those feelings persist. While he can be dismissive at times, Jon has worked to be a little more understanding and and forgiving. That said, he doesn't have the patience for people who are cruel, petty, or those who don't want to do the work and will call that out if he's close to the person or leave them behind if he has no ties to them.

Beneath his tough, distant, and somber exterior, Jon is a warm and kind person to those who have earned it, and he has a dry, teasing sense of humor that comes out with those he's comfortable with.

Following his death and subsequent resurrection, Jon changed. He idolized Ned Stark as a paragon of honor and duty, striving to model himself after the man in the hopes of being worth the Stark blood in his veins. While that conviction and desire remains, Jon is more cynical and melancholic, struggling with his desire to carry on, to stand for what he's right and grappling with the idea that doing the honorable, right thing is what got him killed in the first place.

On top of that, Jon is aware that the way he views and experiences the world has been altered by his own death, his sense of being other increasing, his self-hatred cutting deeper, but also being stripped of some emotions like fear, which he finds doesn't affect him the way it used to, and anger, which doesn't quite burn the same way. Most of his feelings feel dulled and distant, and drawing them forward takes more effort than they used to, and more effort than he's willing to conjure most days. He is quieter now than ever, but he is slowly recovering, trying to get back to the way he used to be.
